ReOrder planning guide

Build an inventory buying plan within a cash limit

Turn replenishment requirements into a funded plan while keeping deferred products and supplier constraints visible.

Written and reviewed by ReOrder · · Examples are illustrative.

A requirement is not a commitment

A forecast can produce more recommended purchases than the business can fund. ReOrder applies an optional inventory cash limit to the live buy plan and makes deferred lines visible. The merchant still reviews the decision before preparing a supplier draft.

Worked example: two products, one budget

Illustrative example: product A needs a US$600 purchase and product B needs US$500. With US$800 available, both cannot be funded in full. If the chosen priority funds A, US$200 remains and B needs another decision. Increasing the budget to US$1,100 changes feasibility, not the underlying demand evidence.

Supplier rules can leave cash unused

A remaining balance does not mean another valid order can be placed. A case pack, minimum order quantity or supplier minimum value may make the next purchase too large. ReOrder shows the constraint so the merchant can review it rather than silently assuming the budget will be exhausted.

Review costs before using the plan

Missing or incorrect unit costs undermine cash planning. Check those inputs and distinguish an inventory purchasing budget from a complete business cash-flow forecast.

  • Confirm unit costs and the selected display currency.
  • Review urgency, service levels and funding together.
  • Investigate deferred products before accepting the plan.
  • Allow separately for freight, tax and other costs not represented in the planning inputs.

In the ReOrder workflow

The Buy plan separates what can be funded from what needs correction or must wait.
